Safe Place: Where kids get help...fast

Youth Services is part of a nationwide program called Safe Place, which is dedicated to helping youth in trouble with a safe place to go for help and/or shelter.
More than 90 Safe Place sites are spread throughout Salt Lake County in public places such as libraries, fire stations and recreation centers. Locations can be spotted by the Safe Place sign on the building or in the window. Employees at Safe Place sites are trained to call Youth Services if a youth comes in asking for help. A Youth Services employee will speak with the youth on the phone and, if desired, transport the youth to our facilities. Any youth can access this help, either by going to a Safe Place site or coming directly to the Youth Services Juvenille Receiving Center.
Youth Services offers presentations on Safe Place to youth groups, schools and community organizations. For more information about Safe Place or to schedule a presentation, contact Michael Johnson, Safe Place Coordinator, at 385 468-4528 or mkjohnson@slco.org.
